In the last 24 hours, 3,676 new cases of corona have been registered in the country. There were 4,518 cases on Sunday. According to this, there has been a decrease of 5.4 percent in the cases of corona, but 70 percent of the total infected cases are coming only from Kerala and Maharashtra (Covid cases in kerala). Along with the daily infected, the positivity rate is also increasing in these states, the recovery rate is decreasing. The positivity rate in Kerala has exceeded 10 percent and in Maharashtra it is close to 6 percent. Because of this, 34 percent of the total active patients in the country are from Kerala only.
More than one thousand cases of corona are coming daily in Kerala for the last several days. The number of active patients in the state has increased to 8542. At the same time, the positivity rate has been recorded around 11 percent. That is, 11 people are getting infected per 100 people tested. On the other hand, the number of active corona patients in Maharashtra has increased to 7429. The positivity rate in Maharashtra is 6.49 percent. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the area where the positivity rate exceeds 5 percent is not considered in epidemic control. Experts say that in the coming days in Kerala and Maharashtra Cases may increase.
need to be cautious
Kovid expert Dr. Anshuman said that the cases may increase further in the coming days in these two states, although there is no need to panic. Because in this way cases of corona will keep coming in some states. In such a situation, until a new variant comes, there is no danger. It is possible that cases are increasing due to Omicron’s sub-variant BA.5. In such a situation, there is nothing to worry about, but people who have any chronic disease and the elderly need to be alert. Apart from this, people who have not taken the vaccine. They can also get an infection. In this case, it is necessary to get vaccinated.
Keep an eye on the symptoms of the infected
Kovid expert Dr. Yudhveer Singh says that increasing the case is not a sign of danger, but the symptoms of the infected will have to be monitored. If the symptoms are similar to Omicron, then there will be no risk even if the case progresses, but if there is a total change in symptoms, then it can be a possibility of a new variant. In such a situation, genome sequencing of samples of infected people will also have to be increased.
No fourth wave expected
Dr. Anshuman said that cases are increasing in only two states across the country and the daily figure of total infected in the country is also less than four thousand. In such a situation, it is not right to consider the increasing cases as the fourth wave. The epidemic is in the endemic phase. In such a situation, cases will increase in some states and will also decrease after a while.
